The success of Mason District Little League (MDLL) is due to the generosity of our volunteers, partnerships with community businesses, of course the Washington Nationals, and our annual fundraising event: the Hit-a-Thon.
Hit-a-thon funds are used for equipment and caretaking of the fields, participation scholarships for families in need, to keep the registration fees low for all families, and to support coaches clinics. Although the Nationals funded the overall renovation of Mason District Park Field in 2017, there are funds required to support the best possible player experience at that site and across the fields and teams. As our league continues to grow, the 2018 fundraiser is critically important.
Is this year your first MDLL Hit-a-Thon?
Welcome to it! It is similar to a walk-a-thon. The idea is that each player solicits sponsors who pledge to make a tax-deductible donation to MDLL. Pledges can be based either on the total distance a player hits (and we have some sluggers among us!) or a flat donation amount.
Winners based on distance are welcome to participate in the MDLL Home Run Derby on Saturday, June 16 at Mason District Park. Individual fundraising leaders will also win prizes, and the team with the most funds raised will receive funds for a team party.
No matter how much money individuals raise, we encourage everyone to participate, to have a great time with this activity, and to help MDLL. Thank you for being a part of another great MDLL season.
